Solar Household Energy, Inc. (SHE), a 501(c)(3) public charity, was founded in 1998 to introduce solar cooking where it can add quality to life and alleviate stress on the environment. In 2004, SHE completed the design of a breakthrough solar oven, the HotPotTM, to meet the demand for an economical yet durable and powerful alternative cooking device.

Today Solar Household Energy continues to support solar cooking technology research and development, advises nonprofit, commercial and public sector entities on the entire range of solar cooking technologies, as well as the holistic “integrated cooking system.”

The solar cookers in our village just outside Dakar are not available in sufficient numbers to satisfy our needs. Many women here use the few we already have, and dream every day of having their own.
