Half of the world’s population relies on wood fires to cook.

Introducing solar cooking requires careful planning, a strong local partner, creativity, persistence and seed money. Because small entrepreneurs cannot afford the initial investment needed to import, warehouse and market solar ovens and train initial users, SHE Inc. steps in to “prime the pump.” We do that with contributions from individual and institutional donors.

A pilot project to bring 100 or 250 solar ovens to a rural community in Central America or Africa sets the stage for a self-sustaining “scale up,” leading to community-wide adoption of the technology. The cost of these projects ranges from $25,000 to $100,000. Your financial support will make a big difference in the quality of life and environment of the communities we serve.

Tax-deductible donations to SHE Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, can be made securely online via credit card, or by mailing a check to P.O. Box 15063, Chevy Chase, MD 20815. We also accept gifts of marketable securities. Please email with any questions about our goals, programs or finances.

We also seek:

  • Relationships with entrepreneurs, foundations and NGOs with operations and investments in targeted countries. Work with us.

  • Information exchange with members of the global solar cooking community. We encourage those interested to register and to stay in touch with us through e-mail.

Thank you for your support.
