Solar Household Energy (SHE) strives to unleash the potential of solar cooking to improve social, economic and environmental conditions in sun-rich areas around the world.

Over half the world’s population relies on wood, charcoal or other biomass for daily cooking, leading to respiratory diseases, economic hardship, environmental degradation, and carbon emissions. Solar cooking offers a practical, affordable, and sustainable alternative.

Since 1998, SHE has worked with governments, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector to promote solar cooking with modern solar cookers including the acclaimed Haines Solar Cookers and the HotPot developed by SHE.

SHE introduces solar cooking technology in carefully chosen communities through projects that distribute solar cookers, provide training and continued support for users, and include monitoring and evaluation for project enhancement and feedback to donors and implementing partners.
