Mexican social enterprise starts manufacturing solar cookers locally

Having proven there was a demand for Haines solar cookers in rural Oaxaca communities, Lorena Harp, supported by SHE, is gearing up to sell more solar cookers. She is in the process of locally manufacturing Haines solar cooker from their raw materials, metalized polyester foam and polycarbonate, to reduce costs and move towards social enterprise independence. As sales increase, SHE’s subsidies will decrease, allowing the social enterprise to gradually gain financial independence. Read more about it here, see photos of the manufacturing process here and the latest market demonstration here.
